New York City Mayor-elect Eric Adams tweeted recently that he will receive his first three paychecks in bitcoin if he is elected. The mayor also discussed his plan to make New York City a crypto hub and a center for innovative industries. It is pretty sure that NY becoming the crypto hub will propel innovation forward in this field. This also shows that Eric Adams is taking advantage of the current situation and lack of regulation to steal votes from crypto believers.
Making him mayor seems to be a great idea due to his crypto-centric promises. Even just the fact that an NYC mayor is taking Bitcoin as salary and pushing innovation is something we all want. As Miami is already booming with crypto innovation, we’ve already seen what mayors are capable of. The same thing will happen in other cities as well.
“This is a clear signal from me that I am not playing. We have become too afraid as a city we have become a culture of ‘no.’ We turn down everything,” he stated. “This used to be a city where we led from the front.” Adams said he will have to convert his dollar paycheck into Bitcoins, as there’s no automatic way for him to receive payment in the digital currency.

It is even said that if NYC becomes crypto-centric, everyone will be able to take their salary in Bitcoin, and the city will become more competitive on web3 protocols. Meanwhile, Mayors competing to make their cities the most crypto-forward will speed up the entire process. There is already some healthy competition between Miami and New York if Eric is elected.
Eric also said that he plans to investigate what is affecting the current lack of crypto growth in New York. In addition to drones, self-driving cars, and better cybersecurity, he promised to bring these technologies to New York City.
